Photos of "Bonnie Scotland"

Scotland the Brave

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our very special and dear friend Dana for the following pictures of Scotland. Dana is presently living in Scotland and took these pictures recently while vacationing. She very generously has sent the following pictures for us to use on this web site. We hope you enjoy these absolutely beautiful pictures as much as we do. Dana hosts a Scottish Chat on mIRC at Roots, Branches and Twigs in #RBTGenealogy. Thank you Dana!

Please be patient while these pictures load. They are well worth your time.

Along the coast line in the Highlands

A loch on the road between Ullapool and Dureness.
The castle out on the loch belonged to one of the clan chiefs.

A closer look at the picture above.

A beach that runs along a small peninsula on the northern coast at Durness. Puffins nest at the end of the headlands during the summer. The peninsula's ecology is a very fragile type of sand dunes.

Durness, this is Ben Hope, the tallest peak in the area. The hike up was less than fun (too many climbers on the same trail have reduced it to too much mud, too many midgies, too steep) but the view at the top was well worth the effort.

This lovely village is actually no where near Durness. This is Peebles, just south of Edinburgh about 40 (or so) miles.
